OLESIA SAKHRO — PORTFOLIO
The works.
EMBROIDERED CANVASES · WEARABLE ART · NEW SERIES IN PROGRESS
- 01“She Who Holds the World”— ORGANZA · DMC THREADS · HAND EMBROIDERYHands afraid to let go, and a belly round as a planet: not yet a face — a whole world, held in both hands.

- 02“Silence That Screams”— ORGANZA · DMC COTTON · DOUBLE-SIDED STITCHThe child is silent, but the whole work screams — with colour, with broken forms, with light that breaks through the pain.

- 03“Light Through the Shards”— ORGANZA · DMC COTTON · DOUBLE-SIDED STITCHA grandmother’s embroidered prayer: her granddaughter’s face gathered piece by piece, where light breaks through the cracks — the light war cannot touch.

- 04“The Step No One Remembers”— ORGANZA · DMC COTTON · DOUBLE-SIDED STITCHA child’s first steps, photographed on a birthday: a movement every one of us once made and no one remembers — the one living flame in a cold city.

- 05“While the World Stands Guard”— ORGANZA · DMC COTTON · DOUBLE-SIDED STITCHA child sleeps pressed against a broken bear while warm windows glow outside: while she sleeps, we are still holding on.

- 06“Seven Figures of Light”— ORGANZA · DMC COTTON · DOUBLE-SIDED STITCHA portrait of a child with quiet eyes and a bear like a wall behind her — and the seven things I would leave to the children born in war.

- 07“Whisperer of Shadows”— ORGANZA · DMC COTTON · THE ARTIST’S OWN TECHNIQUEThe fourth year of the war: every night she sits across from a black cat — the one listener who knows all her secrets. Their eyes speak in the silence.

- 08“She Who Burns and Does Not Consume”ORGANZA · DMC COTTON · DOUBLE-SIDED STITCHEvery stitch is a temperature, every colour a degree of pain endured: a portrait of a woman who did not choose to be strong.

- 28“Abstract Flame”

- 29“Pearl in a Shell”

- 30“She Who Keeps the Sky from Falling”— ORGANZA · DMC COTTON · THE ARTIST’S OWN TECHNIQUEThe sky is alive, it breathes — and it has grown a little tired of holding itself up. Beside her a bandura player plays his own tune, somewhere a war is going on, and she stands and holds, because someone has to.

- 31“Tulips of the Sun and Moon”— ORGANZA · DMC COTTON · THE ARTIST’S OWN TECHNIQUEThe legend of the Sun and the Moon in love: during an eclipse they met and shared their pain, and two tears — one gold, one white — grew into magical flowers in the black earth.
