“Tulips of the Sun and Moon”
In ancient times the Sun and the Moon were in love. Every night the Moon grieved, waiting for his hour, and every day the Sun ached, watching the Moon fade.
Once, during a rare total solar eclipse, they met and shared their pain. The Sun shed a golden tear as a sign of its ardent love, and the Moon a white tear of pure longing.
These tears fell on the black earth and grew into magical flowers, which ever since have been called “Tulips of the Sun and Moon”.
